Koi no yokan

June 8, 2018

Hitomebore is the The Japanese word for “love at first sight.” Koi no yokan is a more nuanced, delicate idea as it refers to the possibility of falling in love. “I like the idea that some part of you knows and recognizes the other person before your more logical and rational parts have a chance to catch up,” says author Nicola Yoon. “It’s the feeling when you meet someone that you’re going to fall in love with. Maybe you don’t love them right away, but it’s inevitable that you will.” Watch this BBC video on the premonition of love.
