Floored

December 5, 2016

Herringbone floors are costly, and tricky to install, but what a stunning look they render. It’s a decidedly Parisian look –– and who doesn’t want a slice of Paris at home?

Opposites Attract

Not everyone can pull off a t-shirt with an evening gown. There’s something about the cheekiness, levity and insouciance of a high/low mix that gets me every time. It’s why I’m a fan of diamonds with cotton pajamas, ballgowns with All Stars and high street meets haute couture.

che Bruta

December 1, 2016

I don’t wear shirts often, but Bruta is a line I would gladly throw on my back. The collection, that references Gauguin, Hockney and Gaucho style, is the brainchild of artist Arthur Yates and his girlfriend Phoebe Saatchi (Charles’ daughter). “My girlfriend and I love taking road trips through Italy, so this collection was a love letter,” is how he described Fall 2016 in Vogue. “I wanted the collection to have a souvenir feel. Each shirt feels like a memento of each place I’ve visited in Italy.”

Coco

I bought a Chanel bag today. It’s black leather and quilted –– oh, and it’s the size of my thumb. It’s part of a line of charming miniatures handmade in Brooklyn by Phillip Nuveen. It even comes with a chic paper bag. It’s a gift for a friend in Athens. She’s got plenty of the real thing, but something tells me she’ll love her tiny version just as much.
