I’m a huge fan of Margherita Missoni –– the style, spirit and down-to-earth attitude. Her style is a mix of glamour and humour punctuated by pops of high wattage colour and print (of course). Her wedding dress is one of my all-time favourites. It was so romantic and decadent. This video is pretty cute. Her joie de vivre and cheeky sense of humour accent every word.

Top of the crops
July 12, 2016
With the button on my trousers landing bang on my belly button, I’m now much more inclined to buy a crop top or two. These ones created by artist and illustrator Isa Beniston are such fun. I adore the bright colours and playful style of her drawings. I’d wear mine over a pair of light wash jeans, or over a long, billowy skirt in apple green.

I’m into oversized men’s shirts — white ones and blue ones made from the lightest, loveliest cotton. A playful hint of black lace that peeps through a pinstripe is as sexy as it gets. Sofia Coppola, who is always so chic and demure, wears Charvet shirts. I’ll raid my dad’s wardrobe. I bet he’s got some 30-year-old gems that’ll look just fine on my back.
waisted
July 5, 2016
There was a period of about a decade where, to the chagrin of my mother, my jeans sat way below my belly button. High waisted jeans –– her jeans –– were ridiculously uncool. And now I am a Mom, and my jeans, trousers and skirts sit comfortably at my waist. And frankly, I couldn’t be cooler. At least, my kids think so. For now.

If my children saw this woman they would think she was a witch. And they may well be right. There’s something fabulously dark, mystical and dramatic about her. She has an air of Karl Lagerfield. And perhaps the German accent, too. “I don’t like standard beauty –– there is no beauty without stangeness,” said Kaiser Karl.
frocks

If you’re on the hunt for easy breezy dresses for summer, you may want to have a look at Aussie designer Sarah Hardie. From simple, solid coloured wrap dresses to embroidered frocks fit for a gypsy, it’s hard to stop at just one. I like the Gemma dress (with or without a belt) and the Ibiza dress is lovely, too. And the little girl’s clothes –– blouses, rompers and dresses –– are very sweet.
Head Dress

I’m a huge fan of hats and headdresses and crowns of jewels and flowers –– any excuse to wear bijoux on my head. I think the crowns over at Magnetic Midnight are all sorts of wonderful. With all the fashion lovelies wearing their colourful crowns from the beach to the ball –– it seems to be the summer’s ultimate accessory. I’ll take a dozen for my dining room wall!

top hat
June 23, 2016
A few weeks ago, I talked about how fun it would be to wear a boater again. I even went to Holts to try on the dainty one I’d seen there a while back. Sadly, someone had snapped it up. If I could get my hands on this trulli shaped Rosetta Getty hat I’d feel much better about the one that got away. It belongs on the head of a caftan-ed girl walking through the streets of Puglia. Veramente chic.
It’s a wrap

Inspired by a photo of post-war fashion model, Liz Pringle, I will be wearing a headscarf this summer. I have a few vintage Pucci silk scarves that belonged to my grandmother to play with, and I may even whip out the paisley bandana of my youth. That’s not to say that my usual messy knot is going anywhere, but wrapping one’s head in Pucci is just too much fun.
